Optoms Cycling for Sight 2012 · 6 June 2012

Optometry Giving Sight is a global fundraising initiative that specifically targets the prevention of blindness and impaired vision due to uncorrected refractive error – simply the need for an eye exam and a pair of glasses.

Story

Optoms Cycling for Sight is a 12-day long World Sight Day Challenge, which will take cyclists from Plymouth to Glasgow between August the 27th and September the 7th, linking all UK optometry departments.

The World Sight Day Challenge is a global fundraising campaign coordinated by Optometry Giving Sight in the UK.

The charity funds eye care services in communities where they do not exist, ensuring sustainable, lasting results in three ways: training of local eye care professionals; establishment and support of vision centres and schools of optometry; delivery of affordable eye care and low cost glasses. 670 million people worldwide are blind or vision impaired simply because they don’t have access to an eye examination and a pair of glasses. Optometry Giving Sight funds the solution.

Optoms Cycling for Sight aims to get all optometry students involved in fundraising to help eliminate uncorrected refractive error.
