Médecins Sans Frontières / Doctors Without Borders (MSF) is the world's leading medical humanitarian aid organisation. We work in over 70 countries - in conflict zones, natural disasters and epidemics. We are independent, neutral and impartial. We provide medical care where it's needed most.

Story

Hi, my name is Miheer Dodhia and I’m just your average student on a gap year.
Okay, so I have 6 months to kill.

Best not waste this time sitting in front of the TV watching endless reruns. Well I've always wanted to see Tiananmen Square. But you know what, going through the airport can be such a hassle. Well only one choice then. Better hop onto my bike and pedal my way there.

Well that’s my goal. Cycling solo from Trafalgar Square, London to Tiananmen Square Beijing and getting back just in time to start university. My adventure will be taking me through 14 countries, 8 time zones and across two continents. Simple?

I'll be leaving on the 9th of March in the morning under Nelson's Column on a 6 month journey. It looks like I’ll be clocking up at least 8,000km on my bike and more on buses and trains as I cover the ancient Silk Road through mountains and deserts to arrive in my final destination, Beijing,  in August.

And its all for an amazing cause!
Médecins Sans Frontières is a great charity who provide humanitarian medical aid on the front lines to those in desperate need in exceedingly dangerous regions such as Darfur. If you are a UK taxpayer then you can use Gift Aid and your contribution will be boosted by 25%!
