Islamic Relief is an international relief and development charity that aims to alleviate the suffering of the world's poorest people. As well as responding to disasters and emergencies, it promotes sustainable economic and social development by working with local communities - regardless of race, religion or gender.

Story

In association with Islamic Relief, the LSE SU Bangladesh Society and the Sylhet in London Network organised a Charity Nasheeds Concert for the victims of Cyclone Sidr that ravaged southern Bangladesh. The Cyclone has left 28 districts devastated, with up to 10,000 dead and many more displaced in need of urgent shelter, food and medical care.

The concert had performers and speakers including

Khaleel Muhammad ('The Adventures of Hakim' and backing vocals to songs by Yusuf Islam and Zain Bhikha)
Ehsan Tahmid (Upcoming Nasheeds Artist)
Asif Choudhury (Muslims for Life - Slave of Allah)
Masrur & Kaiser (Truthful Movement)
Ishmael (Mecca2Medina)
Halal Bilal (Comedian)
• an Islamic Relief fieldworker who has recently visited the disaster zone in Bangladesh
Na'eem Ahmed – Channel S
Bodrul Hussain (Poetry)


A Charity Auction was also held.
