Story

You will be pleased to know our team of 6 completed this challenge on 10/10/09 in just under 8 hours and between us will have raised around £5,000 once giftaid is added.

The weather was almost perfect, the company brilliant fun and the trek absolutely exhausting!  The 3 inclines we tackled were MUCH harder than I imagined and this is by far the hardest physical thing I have ever done - the peaks of Pen y Fan, Cribyn and Fan y Big just seemed to go on forever!

Thank you to everyone who read my page and supported me in any way.

Thank you for visiting my fundraising page.

For those of you who know what a couch potato I am it may come as a surprise to know that I am undertaking the Brecon Beacons 15 mile challenge on 10 Oct 09 with a group of loyal female friends.

However, I'm sure it will come as no surprise to know that I am not doing this for fun but to raise money for CYSTIC FIBROSIS, an illness that affects my youngest son Ryan.

Ryan is now 13 and as you can see by this picture he is a bright and bubbly teenager.  He's a real 'live wire' with a cheeky personality but the reality is he spends almost 2 hours a day on physiotherapy and nebuliser treatment and takes over 45 tablets every single day.

On the inside almost every part of his body is affected in some way by Cystic Fibrosis.  CF is the UK's commonest life threatening disease and the defective gene is carried by 1 in 25 of the population.  It's a complex and difficult illness and I urge you to visit the CF website at www.cftrust.org.uk  to learn more.

There is currently no cure for CF but there is hope on the horizon.  Gene therapy trials have recently begun, which I pray will eventually benefit Ryan and everyone else who lives with CF.  Ground breaking research like this costs a lot of money and I hope that progress towards a possible cure will never be delayed by a lack of funds.

Help me keep that hope alive.  Please donate whatever you can, however small, and send me a comment to inspire me on the way to treking those 15 miles!

Giving through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Cystic Fibrosis Trust gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.

Thank you.
