Story

BUPA Great Manchester Run - Sunday 21st May 2006

As many of you know, I often sign up to do long sponsored runs and end up injuring myself (it's true!!) while training for them ... but not this time !!! Next week I take to the roads of Manchester for the Great Manchester Run 2006 and am fully fit, free of groin strains and quite frankly can't think of any more excuses to get out of it ! The run is 10 kilometers in distance (or 6.2 miles for those not familiar with the metric system yet), starts on Portland Street and ends on Deansgate.

Over 25,000 people are signed up this year including various celebrities so please get out of bed on Sunday morning (I start at 10am), forget about your hangovers for a couple of hours and give me some support ! I'll be running as part of the corporate challenge for my company Arup and raising funds for the British Institute for Brain Injured Children or BIBIC.

The reason I chose BIBIC is because my older sister, Sarah, died tragically of brain disease at the age of 3 before I was born and anything I can raise will go to helping children in simililar situations to her. My fundraising target is £100 but I hope to raise significantly more than that if possible and greatly appreciate any donations you can afford even if it's just 50p ! This website makes sponsoring me really easy. You can pay securely by credit or debit card so I don't have to come chasing you afterwards to get the cash ! If you don't believe I'm gonna do it you can also enter an amount to pay on completion of the run!

Think that just about covers it. Thanks in advance for any donations you make !!! Hopefully see you down there on Sunday !!!
