Douglas Macmillan Hospice provides specialist palliative care for adults across North Staffordshire and bordering areas, who have cancer and other life limiting illnesses, completely free of charge . The Hospice needs to raise over £7 million each year and with no association with any national charity or organisation bearing a similar name, the Hospice is dependent upon the continuing generosity of our supporters.

My story

We are taking part in the Snowdonia Challenge on 04/04/2009 to raise money for Douglas Macmillan Hospice and would really appreciate your support.

Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor us. Douglas Macmillan Hospice gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.

The Hospice Philosophy is one that aspires to maintain the optimum quality of life by providing a caring, supportive environment, either at home or in warm, homely surroundings, permitting independence for as long as possible.

The intention is to relieve the physical, emotional, social and spiritual suffering of all our patients, whilst respecting their individuality and choice.

The Hospice concept is to ensure that the last stage of an incurable illness becomes a shared journey, helping the patient to die peacefully with dignity and without anguish by relieving pain and other distressing symptoms.

The provision of care recognises and meets the needs of relatives and involves professional advice and support to the patient, his family and friends, carers and staff.
