NEWSFLASH: You can see how we progressed to the top of Kilimanjaro (Blogs and Videos) at our event-dedicated website :-
We're back! TEAM SHOOTING STAR succeeded in our bid to reach the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro. Standing at 19,455 feet, Kilimanjaro is the world’s highest free-standing mountain and is also noted as being the highest point on earth attainable by a non-experienced and non-technical mountaineer.
The team banner was taken to the summit (5,895m) by Joycey and Darren. Mike and I reached the crater rim at Gilman's Point (5,681m), one of the three recognised peaks at the top of Kilimanjaro. Unfortunately, Nick had to descend at 5,360m due to altitude sickness, which affected us all in one way or another.
It's not too late to sponsor us. Every penny raised will make a difference to the lives of the children, young people and families we support at Shooting Star, many of whom will not reach adulthood.
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Shooting Star will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
Every Penny Counts. Thank you.

Together with children supported by Shooting Star, I also temporarily turned my hair blue to raise funds for the Kilimanjaro Summit Challenge - see www.justgiving.com/bluehairday for details.
