''Friends of Meru" is a Perth based Scottish charity that raises funds to promote health, housing and education projects within the Meru region of Kenya. It is a "not for profit" organisation comprised of health, housing and social care professionals.

Story

Thank you for visiting my fundraising page. I am heading out to Northern Kenya in April 2008 to spend some time researching Housing issues in Manyangalo village and Meru district.

I will be funding my own airfair and associated costs.

I will be accompanied by a team of healthcare colleagues from Perth and Kinross and each team member will spend time sharing knowledge and skills in Meru District General Hospital.

The project aims are to:

·         Form lasting links that will mutually benefit global health and housing issues in Perth and Kinross and Northern Kenya

·         Fundraise for the building of an A&E department and support the development of primary/secondary care healthcare systems to improve patient flow.

·         Fundraise for essential hospital equipment – (CT scanners, patient monitors, IT equipment)

·         Share knowledge and skills of best practise in health and housing.

Whatever is donated via this website will be given directly to the Kenyan people without any intermediate agencies.

Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me. The project will receive your money faster and, if you are a taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.

Donations can also be made anonymously if preferred

Many thanks for your support,

Damian.
