Story

27 May - WE MADE IT! After 270 miles, countless hills, fabulous weather, great adventures and several blisters we arrived at the finish line in Kirk Yetholm,Scotland, on Sunday 25th May - three days ahead of schedule! The trip was fantastic and Clancy was the perfect long distance partner, trotting at my heel all day, everyday without a grumble or complaint. He ate well, slept well and even rescued three lambs along the way. He made friends, both four legged and two, wherever we stopped and might have even persuaded a couple to adopt a collie themselves. Thanks to everyone who has supported us, your generosity really made a difference to our motivation and I'm sure will to the Border Collie Trust. When I get a chance to sort pictures and words, I will be posting a full trip report on the BCT forum so please keep an eye there. Thanks again for making a great trip a very special one. Damian and Clancy.

18 May - Walkies update! Damian and Clancy have made it to the half way point!  They are both doing well (although Clancy is doing better than Damian - who has quite a few blisters and a rather sore knee)!

On May 10th 2008, Clancy, my two year old Border Collie, and I will be setting off on our attempt to complete the 270 mile Pennine Way. We intend to complete the trek in a single attempt, unsupported and camping all the way. I expect the walk to take three weeks, averaging 15 miles a day. We rehomed Clancy six months ago.  He had been rescued by the Border Collie Trust from Ireland after his owner had died.  From being scared to walk out the front door, Clancy is now the first in line to get his lead on and go for walkies. Which is why the Pennine Way seems such a fitting milestone (or 270!) in his rehabilitation. The trek is being self-funded so every penny donated will go straight to the Border Collie Trust. Without them I hate to think what might have happened to Clancy. And the hundreds of other dogs they rescue, care for and rehome every year.  Every penny you give will go towards helping dogs like Clancy who through no fault of their own are without a family.

Many thanks for you support, Damian and Clancy McAuley
