My story

Thank you for visiting our fundraising page - Dan & Jon:

Our elder brother, Andy, died on the 1st of January 2009 in St Leonard’s Hospice, York.

He’d been ill for some months with secondary bone cancer, and had spent a great deal of time in Leeds General Infirmary, where he received an amazing standard of treatment.

He moved to St Leonard’s just before Christmas 2008, and their kindness, professionalism and consideration made his last days so much happier and more comfortable than they could have been.

We owe St Leonard’s a great deal, and have decided that we will walk the West Highland Way in September of this year in his memory and to help raise funds. The walk is around 100 miles from Glasgow to Fort William from where we will travel to Ardnamurchan in the Western Highlands (a place which Andy loved) to be with his family for a few days.

We've created a blog which we'll use to update people on preparation and the walk itself, at http://danandjonwalkthewhw.blogspot.com/

UPDATE: 7th April 2009 - some really good news - Tom & Alex, Andy's sons, will be making the walk with us - couldn't be happier about this, and please have a look at their JustGiving page too...
