Story
Hi,
Our names are Dan Harman and Tim McGhie. On the 28th January 2011 we are taking part in the 17th annual Egyption marathon in the city of Luxor, but not only that, we are also cycling there from the UK. As well as trying to survive the heat, sand and wind, we are hoping to raise as much money as possible for the UK based healthcare charity Merlin.
Merlin specialize in health, saving lives in times of crisis and helping to rebuild shattered health services. What will Merlin spend your money on?
£15 could buy enough chlorine tablets to give clean water to over 1,000 people.
£50 could buy health kits for five community midwives, including basic drugs and medical supplies.
£100 could diagnose and treat 100 children suffering from malaria.
Merlin provides much needed healthcare provision to desperate people across the globe. Poor sanitation and inadequate access to healthcare cost the lives of millions of people every year who are caught up in conflict, health system collapse and natural disasters, leaving them in situations beyond there control. We are going to cycle thousands of miles and run 26 or so to encourage you to donate. So please give as much as you can!!.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate and raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
Go on, donate now!
