Mother of six Louiza Saker is the secretary genereal of the Organisation of Families of the Disappeared. In 1984 her husband, Salah Saker, 'disappeared' after being arrested by police at his home. After filing an official complaint, his family eventually received confirmation that he had been transferred to a regional military investigation centre. They have heard nothing more about his fate. After his disappearance, Louiza was dismissed from her job and has been unable to find formal employment since. She was detained briefly by the police in September 2004 after a demonstration, and again in September 2005 when security forces stopped the weekly protest meeting of families of the 'disappeared' and arrested six women including Louiza.
