On 23rd May 2009 I will be competing in my first Ironman event in Lanzarote. Its known as being the toughest of the worlds Ironman events, starting with a 2.4 mile swim, a 112 mile bike ride complete with 2500m of climbing, and finishing with a 26.2 mile marathon.
Since it began as a challenge between a group of Navy Seals, the Ironman has grown to become one of the most recognized endurance events, and I'll be competing against 1300 other triathletes from all over the world.
I'm raising money for Conwall Hospice Care. The aim of Cornwall Hospice Care is to provide the highest quality care to alleviate pain and distressing symptoms for people with life-threatening illness, and to offer practical, emotional and spiritual support to them, their family and their carers. Their service is free of charge to the patient, though their charity status means that they rely heavily on financial and voluntary support from the general public (80 percent of our costs have to be met from voluntary sources).
It would be massively appreciated and would mean lot if you could support this charity while I prepare for this challenge, so please help me support this cause!!
Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It's also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Cornwall Hospice Care gets your money faster and, if you're a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
So please sponsor me now!
