Thanks for visiting my fundraising page. I will be travelling to Ghana on 18th July to work in an orphanage for 2 weeks. I would like to fundraise for the orphanage. With over one million orphaned children, a quarter of these due to the AIDS pandemic, and an estimated 20,000 children living on the streets of the capital, the orphanage projects offer the opportunity to make a valuable contribution to the lives of some of Ghanas most vulnerable children, assisting at one of the many childrens homes in the countrys capital. I will be working in the Peace and Love Orphanage. Founded in 2003, the orphanage cares for over 70 children aged between several months up to 16yrs. Some of the children have lost both their mother and father, others were living on the streets before being rescued, while some children are brought there by parents who can no longer physically or financially care for them. The founder of the orphanage has introduced a small school to the orphanage to educate the children living there and generate income from school fees paid by children attending from the surrounding community I will be running the British 10 K on Sunday 6th July.
