Story
Thank you for visiting my fundraising page. Please dig deep and sponsor me online.
Between 28 April and 10 May 2007, I will be cycling from Lake Titicaca to Machu Picchu as part of Macmillan Cancer Supports Peru Cycling Challenge. I will be cycling for 6 consecutive days, covering 445km, cycling at altitudes reaching 4338m, in all weathers and rough camping along the way. It promises to be an extrememly testing physical challenge.
But why am a doing it? Each and every day 739 people in the UK are told they have cancer, and my Dad was one of those, it is still a shock to me today that cancer took him so quickly, I want to do something, try and make a difference, help find a cure and give something back to Macmillan for their excellent support and Pancreatic Cancer UK, and make my dad proud that I doing something to help, even though I could not help him.
I have to raise a minimum of 3000 pounds for Macmillan, but I hope to raise much more than this and hope that you will consider me in my challenge, which I am aware is very minor one compared to the challenge that cancer patients face each day.
I have setup another fund raising page associated with this event for which I need to raise 3000, but also I would like people to donate to Pancreatic Cancer UK, hence I have setup this donation page also.
Pancreatic cancer is the fifth most common cause of cancer death in Europe and USA, and the 7000 cases which present each year in the UK have a median survival of four to six months and a five year survival of less than 3%. This is the cancer that took my dad. Many people have never heard of pancreatic cancer. Pancreatic Cancer UK aims to raise awareness of pancreatic cancer to aid earlier diagnosis and stimulate and enable more research to develop more effective treatment.
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Pancreatic Cancer UK will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
So please sponsor me now!
Many thanks for your support.
