UPDATE 17 MAY - Daniella & Raven both successfully completed their mile swim yesterday in Dursley Pool. They are both very proud and delighted with the significant amount of money that they have raised for the Brittle Bone Society. They were presented with certificates of achievement to recognise their success. They wish to thank Dursley Pool, their many sponsors and Airbus UK who have all helped them to achieve their final target of £1000 (including Gift Aid) - which was increased on several occasions from an initial £500, due to the generosity of all of their supporters.
Daniella Marinos is a 12 year old girl who suffers from Osteogenesis Imperfecta (aka Brittle Bone Disease). This is a genetic disease from birth and affects not only the bones but other parts of the body such as the lungs heart and hearing. Over the last 5 years Daniella has broken both legs and ankles several times and all of her spinal vertebrae with several compressed fractures in her spine. This is very painful for Daniella, however she does not let it affect her normal routine of life - even when she may be confined to a wheelchair or crutches.
Daniella and her friend, Raven Tomlinson (11), are both undertaking a 65 length (one mile+) swim in Dursley swimming pool on 16 May (starting at 1pm) to raise money for the Brittle Bone Society which is underfunded and is looking to help other children with this disease and hopefully find a cure one day. Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - Daniella and Raven raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity. So please dig deep and donate now.
