Cardiff Half Marathon 2008 · 19 October 2008 ·

The Ear Foundation helped fund the first cochlear implants for deaf children in the UK. We now support children, young people & adults who use a variety of modern hearing technologies. Offering independent advice & activites to bridge the gap between clinics where they're fitted and home where used.

Story

Thanks for visiting my fundraising page.

I know running a half-marathon doesn't exactly sound like something I'd do but I started training about six months ago and now I really enjoy it. I'm absolutely determined to cross the finish line and it looks like I'll be able to do the distance in about 2hrs 30-40mins.

UPDATE: I managed to complete the half-marathon in 2hrs 50mins 50sec. I'm pretty happy with that even though it's 10 minutes slower than I'd hoped for as I was running with a not entirely healed sprained ankle on the left and my right knee starting acting up after 7 or 8 miles. But I made it over the finish line in under three hours, so yay!

My chosen charity is "The Ear Foundation" as I'd like to raise awareness for the problems faced by deaf children and because I think the Ear Foundation is doing an amazing job.

I'd like to raise at least £50 for every one of the 13.1 miles I'm going to run, but if I only make £500 that'd be great too! I know lots of you are students and not exactly swimming in spare cash but if a hundred people give just £5 each, the pretty little progress meter would go all red. Please help achieve that!

Thank you all in advance for your support!
