Story
Thank you for visiting my fundraising page.
The time of year has come again for me to run the Taunton Half Marathon. Each year seems to be harder than the last...Maybe its just me getting older.
I have never tried to raise funds by doing the run. However this year things are slightly different. As many of you are aware a friend of mine, Nigel Wyatt (28) lost his battle with cancer in February. After Christmas Nigel was no longer able to live at home. The final weeks of his life were spent in an Exeter hospice run by Hospiscare.
The care that he received during these weeks was first class. But it went beyond physical care. On one occasion a member of the staff brought a Harris Hawk in to visit. Being confied to his bed this experience made Nigels day. It was small things like this that kept his morale high.
The funding required to run these hospices comes from 2 places. 1/3 is provided by the government. The rest has to be raised through fundraising. Visiting Nigel in this hospice and hearing how highly he spoke of the place is the inspiration behind me trying to raise as much as I can.
So please sponsor me now! Please dig as deep as you can and sponsor me online. After all no one knows if they will require that care that a hospice such as this can provide.
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Hospiscare will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
Many thanks for your support.
