Alzheimer's Society's Kilimanjaro trek · 19 September 2008 ·

At Alzheimer’s Society we’re working towards a world where dementia no longer devastates lives. We do this by giving help to those living with dementia today, and providing hope for the future by campaigning to make dementia the priority it should be and funding groundbreaking research.

Story

Hello,

Between the 23 January and 1 February 2009 I Will be climbing Mount Kilimanjaro, the highest free standing mountain in the world, to raise funds for the Alzheimer's Society.

It's a charity very close to my heart as my father, who died in 2002, lived with dementia for the last 8 years of his life. The impact on our family was immense and it was starkly apparent during that period the lack of care and support readily available on the NHS. The support and advice that the Alzheimer's society provided during my father's illness was invaluable. I'd like to give something back now. The funds I hope to raise will help provide more support for carers and people with dementia and aid the research to find a cure.
