Story
Here's a link to my blog. Not a bad old read really

Now the party's over, I'm so tired - Bryan Ferry, Slave To Love.
Not too tired actually. Big toe has taken a hammering and became infected and now has the nail prepped for falling off. Also I've lost a few pounds and shouldn't really wear baggie clothing as it only emphasises the loss! Otherwise I'm tickety-boo and raring to go again!!
A full write up will follow on the blog over the next couple of weeks but for now a MASSIVE THANK YOU to everyone who has donated and supported me along the way.
2011 summary.
Been a year of ups and downs training wise but happy that things are going in the right direction. Nearly all kit has been procured and strategy has been firmed up so all I need to do now is to keep training hard and keep focused. Last mad event of the year is a sea swim on Boxing Day when there will be just 101 short days to the start of MdS.
Thanks for everyone who has donated so far but now I really need to push the fundraising to get to the £5k figure.
Cheers, Danny

In April 2012 I am going to be putting myself through the many circles of hell that constitute the Marathon des Sables. Not sure they are the same circles of hell that Dante had in mind but for an event billed as the "Toughest Footrace on Earth" there will be tears no doubt.
For those of you not familiar with the event, MdS consists of approximately 150 miles over 6 days across the dunes and plains of the Sahara Desert. During the 6 days, all food and equipment must be carried; the only thing replenished is water. Daytime temperatures can reach 50 deg Celsius. As you can see it is not for the faint hearted.
I am looking to raise as much as possible for The Army Benevolent Fund or Soldiers' Charity as it is now known, which supports soldiers, both current and former and their families affected by conflicts. Being injured on operations or often even just completing a tour can be the start of a difficult and lengthy journey.
