"Danny Wulwick running 10 kilometres??” I hear you say. I know it sounds unbelievable but it's true! After years of having run absolutely nowhere in a hurry I decided to do something about my general abstention from exercise and try and raise some money for a worthy charitable cause at the same time.
For all those of you reading this somewhat sceptically, take it from me. Although all the seasoned marathon runners and tri-athletes would disagree, 10k is a LONG way to run, especially for a complete novice such as me. In fact, I'm still not sure I'll make it round the course but I am going to give it my best shot, both as a personal challenge and, more importantly, to help Kisharon with its fundraising.
This is where you come in, dear friend / colleague / relative. I am asking you to sponsor me to complete the BUPA London 10,000 which takes place on Monday 26th May. The money won't be going to fund my pretty meagre training programme but every penny pledged will go directly into the Kisharon coffers.
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Kisharon will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
Your support will mean a great deal to Kisharon and will hopefully give me the extra incentive to complete the challenge when I start to flag a little and feel the old legs starting to buckle (hopefully not within the first 500 yards)!
For those of you who are not familiar with Kisharon take a look at their excellent website www.kisharon.org.uk
Right, that's enough waffle, get pledging and don't hold back. It's not for me, it's for the people whose life is immeasurably improved by the work that Kisharon does. I’ve set a modest target of £1,000 but I hope you will help me to raise considerably more. For all those pledging in excess of £50 I will send, on request, a signed photograph (slightly more action-packed than the one here) of me crossing the finishing line for you to treasure or sell on eBay, usual terms and conditions apply!
Thanks for looking and thanks for giving.
Regards Danny
