Story
Thanks for visiting my fundraising page.
The challenge
Rather than asking for sponsorship for each event, I am asking everyone if they would like to make a one-off donation. I will be taking part in the following events:
1. Brighton "Superheroes" 10km run (17 May 2009) DONE - 45 mins
2. Sprint Triathlon, New Forest (14 June 2009) DONE - 1hr 33 mins
3. Olympic Triathlon, Worthing (16 August 2009) DONE - 2hr 33 mins
4. Triathlon, (location and date tbc)
The charity
I am raising money for Cecily's Fund, which supports children in Zambia, where I was born. Already one in five of all Zambian children are orphans. Many orphans cannot afford to go to school, but education is vital if they are to have a better future. Cecily's Fund supports the education of around 11,000 Zambian AIDS orphans and vulnerable children. Education gives them hope, self-respect and life skills, including an understanding of how to avoid HIV and AIDS.
Your money will go to improve the lives of children whose existence thus far has been a bleak one. It allows them to go to school and make a better future for themselves. It costs just £25 to send a child to primary school for a year and £50 to secondary school. For more info: http://www.cecilysfund.org/index.html
For those who are interested in knowing how much pain I will be going through the triathlon distances are as follows:
Sprint - 750m swim, 25km bike, 6 km run
Olympic - 1.5km swim, 40km ride, 10km run.
Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Cecily's Fund gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
So please sponsor me now!
