Last year I cheered on a friend running for the “children with Leukaemia” charity and what a fantastic day it was, the atmosphere was amazing and the spectators were so encouraging.
I spotted several Rhino costumes and decided right away that I wanted to run the 2008 London Marathon for “Save the Rhino” in memory of my friend Daniel Lipscombe; I may well question this impulsive act whilst pounding the streets of Oxford during my high mileage training runs!!
Daniel studied Zoology at Bristol University and shortly after graduating left for Botswana in southern Africa to begin a career assisting Rhino conservation projects.
Tragically Daniel was killed whilst in a Rhino enclosure; he was however doing what he loved most. Very few of us can claim to have chased our dreams with such passion as Dan did.
Before I embarked upon this adventure I had no idea of the amazing work that the “Save the Rhino” charity does for not only the “horny four legged creatures” but also the regeneration of their habitat and the local communities. So those of you who do make a donation can be proud in the knowledge that you have provided much needed assistance to local villages, their resources and education which all helps to preserve the endangered wildlife.
Thank you for visiting my fundraising page. Please dig deep and sponsor me online.
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Save the Rhino International will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
So please sponsor me now!
Many thanks for your support.
