I DID IT!!!!!!! Read my report HERE.
Thank you for visiting my fundraising page. I don't ask for sponsorship very often, mainly because I feel it's cheeky to ask for money to do something your going to do anyway! So when a challenge came along that I really wasn't sure about it seemed like a perfect opportunity.
I am sure most people know about the London to Brighton Bike Ride (if not then I'm sure you can work it out) well last year a handful of very fit people did it on skates [1] and this year I aim to do it too!
Apologies to the BHF that organise the but I have chosen to support the Rocky Appeal run by Portsmouth Hospitals NHS Trust. In September 2000 my grandfather died of cancer. There are a number of cancer charities however he was looked after wonderfully by St Mary's Hospital in Portsmouth who are currently attempting to raise £2 million for a cancer laboratory.
I have not signed up for the official event, this is for four reasons. Firstly, the event is very geared to bikes, I feel there may be issues trying to cross the start line on skates. Secondly, the entrance fee is £28 which I have chosen to donate directly to the charity. Thirdly, it means I can set off early and beat the rush. Lastly, if it rains I will not be skating, the hills would just be too dangerous! I will however set myself another challenge to make up for it.
I don't know how practical it is but I would welcome company on the day, either on skates or on bikes. I don't know how easy it will be to stay together but we can catch up on the stops :-)
Donating through this site is simple, fast, secure and if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you. If you can't or don't want to donate money here or wish to donate once I have completed it then please feel free to contact me through Camberley Skaters.
Thank you so much for your support.
