In 2010 MYH took over 4000 calls and over 50% of those calls were from women.
From the women that called us; over 50% were between 18 and 25 yrs old. Every day women dare to hope, dare to hope that someone will listen to them.
Everyday a woman is physically, mentally and emotionally abused. Everyday a woman suffers from depression, an eating disorder. Everyday a woman attempts to cope by self harming. Everyday women dare to hope, dare to hope that someone will listen to them. We see mothers, sisters, friends but we don’t see their depression, their isolation, their suffering, their pain. At Muslim Youth Helpline (MYH) we see this everyday, when a woman calls MYH she is hoping someone will listen and share her suffering. We do, but we need your help to continue listening.
An average call to the helpline cost £5
£5 is all it cost to help us give hope
£5 is all it cost us save someone
“Just speaking to somebody, who listened without judgement, has opened up doors for me which will never be closed.”
