Well, we completed the challenge in the allocated six days with a total running time of approximately 46 hours.  Taking into consideration the broken ground, mountains, muscle injuries and blistered feet we ran large parts of the route with, it starts to look nothing short of miraculous that we actually finished at all!

I feel it’s important to give you an idea of the spirit that kept us going and helped forge memories that I’m sure will entertain and inspire us all for years to come.

On day five we were all at our lowest ebb, chins were on the floor and the pain of the muscle injuries and blistered feet had reduced our run to contorted stagger at some points. Gareth, our support driver had ditched the vehicle and set out along the route as well in an attempt to raise spirits and as I climbed steadily towards yet another peak the cold was seeping into my bones and I had begun to contemplate how I could possibly cover the remaining 21 miles of the day. I approached the fence of the field I was in and saw an A4 piece of paper pinned to it. The message simply read “GET YOUR ASS IN GEAR PEG-LEG”. I laughed my way through the next five miles.

We organised the challenge to honour the memory of Anne Brown and raise some money for the charity that looked after her, and I’m convinced that if she had been around to see our dedication and determination she would have been proud of us all. Please continue to donate as the fundraising goes on, and if you have any ideas for next years challenge leave them in the comments section. Be sure to make it a monster though, we’ve got a taste for this now!

Best wishes and thanks for supporting us.

The team.
