KWT rescues and re-homes unwanted animals, mainly cats and dogs, and has a wildlife rehabilitation programme and emergency help line. The Trust's Rescue Centre is also home to horses, donkeys, cats, goats, birds and small mammals where, in the interest of their welfare, they remain in our care.

Story

<div><strong><span style="color: #000080;">Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.</span></strong></div> <div><strong><span style="color: #000080;">In October I will be taking part in the Beachy Head marathon on behalf of the Kit Wilson Trust. This race was the first marathon I ever ran a few years back so I'm looking forward to going back to beat my previous time! It is known as one of the toughest on the circuit with the 26.2 off-road miles taking in lots of hills including the seven sisters.</span></strong></div> <div><strong><span style="color: #000080;">This time I have chosen to raise some much needed funds for the Kit Wilson Trust, a local animal welfare charity which is working hard to re home abandoned and unwanted pets, aswell as now becoming a wildlife sanctuary too.</span></strong></div> <div><strong><span style="color: #000080;">Recent animals taken in include a 4 month old puppy dumped in the rubbish bin, a cat left locked inside a flat which was found by a locksmith long after the tenants had moved out, a puppy given away free on a website which was found in a London park being teased by a gang of youths who had aquired it but had no way of providing a home for it.</span></strong></div> <div><strong><span style="color: #000080;">The trust also works hard to raise awareness of local animal welfare issues, below is a paragraph taken from the trusts' current campaign which is warning people not to give unwanted dogs away or to sell them cheaply as they are often bought by local dog fighting rings who pose as loving family homes for your pet but are anything but: </span></strong></div> <div><strong><span style="color: #000080;"> </span></strong></div> <div><span style="color: #ff0000;"><strong>"Dogs that will not fight are tied up and used as 'bait dogs' to be the punch bag for the fighting dogs in training. A lady who gave her golden retriever away to a supposedly loving home, got a call only two weeks later from the RSPCA that had found her dead dog in a fighting establishment, tied up and it's muzzle duck taped after it had been mauled to death by other dogs. The microchip was still holding the previous owners address."</strong></span></div> <div> <div><strong> </strong></div> <div><strong></strong></div> <div><em>Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure.
