Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Ryan is my 5yr old Nephew who is fighting Neuroblastoma.

You can learn more about Neuroblastoma here: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmedhealth/PMH0002381/

Background story:

"My name is Ryan Erik Edwards but Daddy always calls me Jimmy. I am 5 years old. Just before I was 2 the doctors found a baddie in my tummy. (Ryan has Stage 4 High Risk Neuroblastoma) I was in hospital for about 9 months and the doctors and nurses got rid of the baddie. But the doctors have told mummy and daddy that the baddie has come back and that I will have to have more special medicine to make it go away. I have lots of friends in hospital, in England and Germany, and make sure mum packs the wii whenever we go to hospital."

You can keep up to date with Ryans progress here: http://ryansappealpage.blogspot.com/

Ryan is a remarkably courageous little boy. Whos equally courageous parents, my sister Julie and his daddy Gareth have teamed up to fight this terrible form of cancer. But they need the support of friends and family to help with fundraising of the £300,000 needed for Ryans treatment of the Haploidentical Stem Cell Transplant procedure.

So the family are doing everything we can to help reach this target, but we cant do it on our own. We need you to donate whatever you can afford, or better still join my fundraising team in our 50 mile cycle ride from Exeter to Okehampton and back to Exeter on Saturday 9th June. Its not going to be a race, the only goal is to fundraise as much as you can towards reaching Ryans target. At this time (13th March 2012) there are currently 7 of my friends and family who will be joining me on the ride including my wife Rachel, my brother in law Matt and his wife Jenny.

PLEASE NOTE: YOU DO NOT HAVE TO PARTICIPATE IN THE CYCLE RIDE TO HELP US FUNDRAISE. SIMPLY CLICK ON "DONATE" ON THIS PAGE AND FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS

If you would like to join us on the ride, dont be put off if you dont have the cycling ability of Lance armstrong. All you need is the ability to ride a bike safely and a moderate level of fitness and thats it! My wife Rachel doesnt go to the gym or have any background of keep fit, (though my two little boys are enough to keep her on her toes :-) ) The pace will be set by the slowest rider so you will not be left behind. All you need to be keep in mind is that 50 miles is a long way to cycle a bike and for the safety of the group it would be necessary for you to maintain a reasonable speed.

The route that will be taken will be: http://g.co/maps/ua3zk
