Thanks for visiting my fundraising page.
In February 2007, forty one pupils, five staff from Hummersknott School in Darlington and our own doctor, went Trekking in the Himalaya. We visited Ghunsa and Lapcha schools and saw how keen the children were to learn. Unfortunately they had hardly any facilities and those lucky enough to attend school had to leave after the age of 14 as there was no Upper Secondary School. We all pledged to raise enough money to build that school for these children and provide two teachers for at least five years.
Over the last two years the students from Hummersknott School have worked hard to raise all but £1500 of the £18000 target.
As I have since retired, my task in June is hopefully to raise that extra £1500 by cycling from Lands End to John O'Groats entirely on Sustrans routes, camping and unsupported. Total distance approx 1300 miles (2000 km)
Please help me to help these children complete their education up to the age of 16.
Thanks
Dave Bell
