24th January - The climb is over and I got to the top of Africa and stood at the summit of Kilimanjaro. Easily the hardest thing i have ever done physically and mentally and probably the hardest i ever will do. Hope you like the summit picture and thank you for donating.

4th January 2010.
YES and a massive thank you !!! That's just for the hitting the fundraising target, now with only 10 days to go til the flight the next challenge is to get the Blog Site publicised so here is the address;
http://dannydavekjtrek.wordpress.com/
Please pass the address to as many people as you can, I hope to send pictures and updates back from Kilimanjaro each day and good friends in Digital Birmingham have offered to upload them for me.
Christmas training is balancing the turkey dinners nicely although the two hour walk last night as it snowed might have been better preparation for the final night. Only 15 days to go before the flight to Tanzania so this isvery real now and very exciting. Two people have now offered to build a blog site for the climb so i hope to be able to send messages and pictures back each day. Oh well another walk and then a practice packing my bag away. . . .
Dec 12th-13th was the final training weekend with 8 other members of the team that are going. Climbing in the ice, some snow and even in the dark in the Lake District. We did an 8 hour climb on Saturday and a 5 hour climb on Sunday. All the gear seemed to work well and the body stood up well so just four weeks to go to the off - fantastic.
Cancer will touch all of our lives at some point, MacMillan are there to help when it does.
Macmillan Cancer Support are an amazing charity and I am honoured to be raising money for them and taking on such a fantastic and awe inspiring challenge. I am going to train for six months for this so please give whatever you can afford to help the charity and motivate me in the colder months.
People have been so generous and kind so far and with a last push i can get to my target of £5,000. Please give whatever you can.
Thanks again, Dave.
