In April 2007 I will be travelling with a group of healthcare professionals to Peru to walk the Inca trail in order to raise funds for ADDISS the UK national ADHD support group and information service.  ADDISS provides information, training and support for parents, sufferers and professionals in the fields of ADHD and related learning and behavioural difficulties. All ADDISS activity is supported by a Professional Board of expert advisers of which I am proud to be a member. 

ADDISS supports multi-disciplinary assessment and treatment protocols for ADHD, including education and behavioural interventions, with or without medication, keeping an open mind trying to help families find their own most appropriate approach to intervention.

Much of the money raised by our trip will be used to enable ADDISS to employ and train staff for the telephone helpline. This service has already been used by many famililes looking for advice and support however it is currently only available for limited periods during the week and is unable to meet the high demand that has built up over recent years.

As those of you who know me will realise this trip will definately be a challenge and not a holiday and I am well on the way to getting in shape for it. However I have decided to pay for the cost of the trip myself this way you can be sure that everything you donate will go directly to ADDISS.
