Hi,

I'm Dave, a Health Care Support Worker on the Children's Unit at Glan Clwyd Hospital, North Wales.

My task is an 8 hour skipping marathon in June 2014 and I hope to raise as much cash as possible for the Adolescent Bay's and Quit Room on the unit.

On the Childrens Unit, we rightly concentrate on creating a positive hospital experience for babies and children, but the experience of adolescents, teenagers, and young people is often overlooked, with the Adolescent Bays at best described as clean, clinical, but drab and dreary.

I would like to create a youth club theme throughout the designated adolescent areas on the Unit, with inviting wall deccor, a relaxing seated area with coffee and dinning tables, a games area with multi games boards, consoles and computer.

Also, I have obtained a cubicle for use as a Quiet Room, which can be used as a private area by Clinical Specialists for teaching and talking with patients, parents and carers.  This room has already been used extensivly by the Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services and Social Services.  We need to turn this room into a warm and relaxing area with light decor and soft furnishing.

MY EVENT

I will be skipping for a total of 8 hours, this challenge will probably take the form of 32 x 15 minute on the spot skipping, with 5 minutes rest between each 15 minutes. A number of locations have been identified for this event, of which an announcement of venue will follow soon.
