Every two hours someone in the UK is paralysed by a spinal cord injury. It can happen to anyone at any time and no one is prepared for how it will change their life. Aspire is a national charity that provides practical help, supporting spinal cord injured people from injury to independence.

Story

Hi;

It's a frightening statistic that 1,200 people in the UK become paralysed each year - that's four people each and every day. The individual affected will lose muscle and sensory control and the vast majority become full time wheelchair users for the rest of their lives. Through its projects and programmes, Aspire offers practical support to the 40,000 people living with a spinal cord injury in the UK so that they can lead fulfilled and independent lives in their homes, with their families, in work-places and leisure time.

As an active person it's easy to take being able to swim or run for granted, which is why I'm raising money for Aspire. It only seems right to do something challenging and active, and swimming four miles between Gozo and Malta certainly falls in to that category!

I'm paying for all of the costs of the trip, so every penny of your sponsorship will go directly to the charity.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

So please dig deep and donate now!

Cheers;

Dave
