Terry Fox, who lost his leg to cancer, set out to run across Canada to create awareness and raise funds for cancer research world wide. He ran for 143 consecutive days and completed an average of 26 miles - Marathon distance - each day a heroic act that defies scientific reasoning. Terry changed people's attitudes towards people with disabilities and had them derive inspiration from his courage. As cancer claimed his leg, it did not take away his unstoppable spirit. He had fierce determination, which took him to the limit. He succumbed to the disease at the age of 21. The Founder, Chairman and CEO of Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts, Mr Isadore Sharp embraced Terry’s quest and promised to “keep his dream alive.” This commitment led to the establishment of The Terry Fox Foundation based in Canada. The Foundation strives to maintain the efforts and integrity that Terry himself once embodied. Each year, Four Seasons hotel’s around the world organise Terry Fox Runs to raise money or cancer research in their local community. The “Marathon of Hope” raises money to fight the disease. The proceeds from the event will be donated to The Royal Marsden Cancer Campaign in London and The Terry Fox Foundation in Canada. Our goal is to raise £25,000 for cancer research. 100% of your contribution will go directly to these non-profit organisations. We need your support to make this event successful and to carry on Terry’s dream. Dave
So please sponsor me now! Or, if you're feeling really energetic, why not come and join me? You can register on the day of the event, its not too far to run and it will be a great day out! The more the merrier, especially if you can get a few people to sponsor you as well!
Many thanks for your support.
