First Touch supports sick and premature babies cared for at St George’s neonatal unit in SW London. We fund state-of-the-art equipment and specialist staff training which are outside of the scope of NHS budgets, as well as a range of initiatives to support families during their stay on the unit.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

On Saturday 16th October 2010, Zachary David Alexander Hall was born at St.George's Hospital in Tooting. At Georgia's 22 week scan our unborn baby was diagnosed with a Congenital Diaphramatic Hernia, a rare condition which sees a baby born with parts or all of his/her intestines up in their chest. We were told that our baby only had a 65% chance of survival at birth and were given the option of a termination at that point. Of course, we decided that we had to give our child a chance to beat the odds and Georgia's pregnancy went ahead as normal, though with much heartache and worry for the remaining months.

Zach was born via C Section and whisked away without the chance for us to touch him let alone give him the cuddle we so desperately craved, and immediately admitted to the Intensive Care Dept of the Neo Natal Unit at St.George's. He was operated on, on Day 2 of life and we all held our breath. The next few days saw our little boy show great strength and fight and as the days past he grew stronger and on Wednesday 20th October we were able to hold him for the first time. Two weeks later we were able to take our little boy home and he is doing amazingly well. He shows no side effects of his tough start to life and the doctors are very hopeful that he will see no serious problems as he grows up

We were, and still are, in complete awe of the care that Zach received and are hoping to help raise some funds to help the Neo Natal Unit with the incredible work they do. Much of their life-saving equipment is provided via donations and we would love to help them in this way. All the money we raise will go directly to the unit and will make a difference to many baby's lives.

Thank you in advance for any help you can give and we look forward to making a difference with the money we raise.

Dave, Georgia & Zach x

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure.
