Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

On September 5th 2009, the first ever Army Benevolent Fund charity trek team will take part in the Annual Airborne trek which is held in Oosterbeek, Holland. This trek is held in memory of the Allied Airborne soldiers who jumped into battle on 17 September 1944 and is now in its 62nd year. We are aiming to walk on the 25km (16 mile) and 40km (25 mile) routes, as a team, collecting donations for the Army Benevolent Fund.

My Father Reg Fearn served in the 1944 Arnhem battles and I am taking part in this trek, in his memory and to support a very good cause. My Father served with the Grenadier Guards, 2nd Armoured Battalion, the Guards Armoured Division.

Following my successful participation in the Canary Wharf First Hearts 10k Power Walk, I now aim to stretch my target walking distance to 25KM (16 miles for the non metric !) in a single day, as part of my 2009 weight loss challenge.

The Army Benevolent Fund is the Soldiers' national charity. It has worked tirelessly for over 60 years to raise money for soldiers and their families in their hour of need. All monies raised from this trek will be donated to the ABF Current Operations Fund, which has been set up specifically to support soldiers and their families affected by current operational commitments.
