As most of you are aware my son 'David' was born with Cerebral Palsy; this condition affects primarily his motor skills particularly his legs.  Due to this condition David can only walk with the aid of a walker or crutches.

David has shown me incredible strength and determination to walk, and pushes himself mentally and physically everyday to ensure one day this will become a reality.

I felt I needed to do something to get a better appreciation of David's daily fight and a better undertaking of what its like to have to push yourself on a daily basis, to undertake simple steps that we all take for granted.

Because of this Darren, Jeremy and myself are going to climb Africa's highest mountain, ' Kilimanjaro' (19,340ft) is the highest free-standing mountain in the world and dominates its landscape unlike any other mountain. Located in Tanzania, this extinct volcano looms over five eco-systems and large game reserves and is certainly one of the world's most impressive sights.

We will be undertaking the Shira route which is an 8 day climb, with on average 12-16 hours of daily trekking and some climbing.  This route is meant to be one of the most difficult climbs up Killiamajaro but has a higher success rate of reaching the summit due to the longer climatization process.  We are not aiming to be in the 40% failure statistic or 20 death's a year this mountain claims, well we hope not!!!.

We are raising money for children with Cerebral Palsy and the rainbow centre www.rainbowcentre.org which has helped over 400 children learn to overcome the problems caused by conditions such as cerebral palsy and other types of motor impairment by using a special system of learning known as Conductive Education. The children and their families consistently achieve a better quality of life as a result.

The Rainbow centre costs £500,000 a year to run and all 3 of us are doing the climb 'self funded' so anything you give will all go direct to the Rainbow centre.

PS - Yes we are very aware that Chris Moyles successfully climbed Kiliamjaro but also Chelsea owner Roman Abamovic recently failed in his attempts to conquer Killy :-)
