Thanks for taking the time to visit this JustGiving page.
Continue reading if you want to look at the original info on the page. But the walk is finished now and I am going to start wrapping up the page soon(ish). Am in the process of bringing together all the photos and memories and will put them on a wall or a screen sometime. I fully enjoyed the walk in all of it's aspects, all the parts of the country I saw and all the folk I talked to or walked with. I hope everyboody else had the same experience. I want to thank all who helped and supported but won't go into full Hollywood role. Will put a couple of pictures up here the now.
Money(will be heading towards £6000) has been raised for a good cause, and hopefully I've helped at least myself remember Young Mark. cheers
This page is in memory of Mark Alexander who died on 1st January 2011 age 23. Mark fought, with dignity, through many frustrations before leaving behind his many friends and family. Mark's sister Kerrie said it all at the funeral - so this is an explanation of what I want to do.
This page has been set up to help you sponsor me, his uncle David Newton(and the dog - Bren), as we walk the 160 miles from Dundee to Knoydart in memory of Mark and in aid of Cancer Research. I haven't set a target figure because I think that the more the better. And in any case the money won't give Mark back his life. But it might be good. And it will help others.
The walk leaves from Birkhill Park/Millenium Hall on the outskirts of Dundee. There are a few folk doing the first section and we'll meet about the back of eight to move off before nine. There will be rolls and coffee for those who want. Some parts of the first couple of days will be spent walking on roads so if anybody is thinking of coming along they should be at ease with this.
The walk will take 12 days and starts on Sunday the 29th of May,ending Thursday 9th of June. There is likely to be a night of music on the way and the Friday after I finish there will be stuff going on in the hall at Inverie, Knoydart.
There is a fair few folk saying that they are gonna walk a bit of the way which is great. If that includes you look below at the programme of walks and check on a map that you are happy with where you are walking.
Walking or not please give generously for a young man who died way before his time and to help save another from the same. Cheers.
