Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I have taken on the challenge of completing the Deloitte Ride Across Britain. This challenge, which starts on 12 June 2010, involves a 1,000-mile mass cycle down the length of Great Britain, from John O'Groats to Land's End, with 600 cyclists (including James Cracknell and Rebecca Romero) covering more than 110 miles per day. I have been training hard for the last six months, so much so that it has taken over family life at weekends and Candice, my wife for those that don't know her, has been very supportive – the garden and golf have also suffered!
The official charity for the ride is Paralympics GB (http://www.paralympics.org.uk/) and the organisers are hoping to raise £2 million by the 2012 Olympics. Jody Cundy, Sarah and Barney Storey (with eight paralypic gold medals between them) are taking part on the ride. The British Paralympic team produced an incredible performance in Beijing, finishing second overall behind hosts China and winning an incredible 102 medals, 42 of them gold. With the next summer Games on home soil, there is a once in a lifetime opportunity to inspire the British public, changing the way people with a disability are perceived through the exceptional performances of our athletes, and improving the opportunities they have to participate in sports at all levels.Thank you for your interest and support.
Kind regards
David
