Story
The Dusk til Dawn race was a muddy epic - 1000 riders thrashing their way through a night-long downpour of biblical proportions. My team-mate and I alternated 12-mile laps for 13.5 solid hours, sustained by flapjack and the trench humour of fellow TROG club members. We placed 32nd out of 83 teams in the "male pair" category (all ages). Thinking of the sponsorship already received (and that contingent on finishing) certainly helped me to keep going.
It is not too late to make a donation to Practical Action (formerly Intermediate Technology, founded in 1966 by EF "small is beautiful" Schumacher). It's a well-run charity, which finds ingenious and effective ways to help the poor in the poorest countries help themselves. If you donate through Justgiving, Practical Action gets your money faster and makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
