One sunny day back in January, Marie, a friend of Lynne's, asked us if we'd like to take part in the 10K Banchory Beast Run. As you all probably know, this is not the sort of thing we'd normally be associated with, but as luck would have it, Lynne had a glass of Chardonnay in her hand at the time. As a result, she said 'Yes please, that sounds like great fun!!'.

So, the following day, we signed up and started buying running magazines and looking on YouTube for training advice...how hard can it be, right??

Well, we've started our training now and within a week we actually ran 2 whole miles EACH, non-stop and without dying. Quite pleased with that! In May, we made our first ever 5K run, and recently managed to break the 10K barrier too.

Our fellow team members, Marie (aka Betty!), Leanne, Steph and Jane have all also made similar distances, and training has proved to be great fun, with gym sessions, group runs and even boxing training. We've even given ourselves a team name, and we are "Betty's Beasties"!

So we figured if we were doing this, it would make sense to do some fundraising at the same time. We considered a number of charities to support, but with Lynne's father's military history, and our general admiration for our wonderful armed forces, we thought Help For Heroes would be a great cause to fund raise for.
