L'Arche builds communities with people who have learning disabilities. Together with assistants, they live in ordinary houses, with choice in and access to work, therapy and local resources. The nine L'Arche communities in England, Scotland and Wales are founded on Christian values, also welcoming people of other faiths and none.

Story

The Great North Run on 18th September will be my first half marathon, and I'm delighted to be raising money for L'Arche.

L'Arche is an international federation of communities for people with learning disabilities and assistants. They have eight communities in England, Scotland and Wales. They provide real homes in ordinary houses to well over 100 people with learning disabilities and a similar number of assistants

Worldwide there are 124 L'Arche communities in 30 countries on five continents, caring for 2700 people with learning disabilities and uniting people of many different cultures and beliefs.

Your donations will contribute to creating workshop facilities at L'Arche Brecon and give the members more opportunites to be creative. This will cost approximately £1,500.

I'm a bit apprehensive about doing the GNR, but I've started training and I'm sure that with your support, and knowing that it's for such a good cause, I'll do it! For more information about L'Arche please visit www.larche.org.uk Many thanks for your support. Dave ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: L'Arche will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
