Thanks for visiting our fundraising page.
Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Derbyshire, Leicestershire & Rutland Air Ambulance gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
In January of this year, Steve, Neil and Dave were mountain biking down the Lockerbrook Trail in the Upper Derwent Valley. Dave had a fall from his bike and sustained a nasty laceration to his calf. Steve went off to get help while Neil attended to Dave's injury. The East Midlands Ambulance Service promptly arrived but the crew were unable to stretcher Dave from the rocky and icy trail to the ambulance waiting in the valley below. The Edale Mountain Rescue Team were called to assist and a 14-strong team carried him to the ambulance by stretcher. From here, the ambulance transported him a short distance to the Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Rutland Air Ambulance (DLRAA) helicopter waiting on the shores of the Derwent Reservoir. After a short flight across the Derbyshire Peaks, the capable staff of the Chesterfield Royal Hospital attended to Dave.
Both the Edale MRT and the DLRAA rely entirely on charitable donations to keep them going. We are raising money as a gesture of thanks to both organisations for their help in treating Dave's injury and getting him to hospital in a professional, courteous and friendly manner. Thanks also to the many passers-by who offered Dave space blankets, heat pads and sympathy during what could have been a cold and lengthy wait.
We will split any sponsorship collected offline 50-50 between the Edale MRT and the DLRAA. The proceeds from sponsorship made via this page will go to the DLRAA. For your sponsorship to go to the Edale MRT visit our other page at www.justgiving.com/davidengland1. Go on, why not sponsor both?
