Story
thanks for visiting our webpage:
Davy Fettes and Drew Blake (both members of KMRT) are trying to raise funds for Killin Mountain Rescue Team,
The team, which is entirely voluntary, provides rescue cover for the area between Callander and Tyndrum . This mountainous area boasts some thirty Munro’s (hills over 3000ft) including some very well known ones, Ben More, Ben Lui etc. The team is called out between 25-30 times each year . Team training takes place twice a month from September – May and the money raised will go toward helping meet the cost of this training. They need to raise £350 minimum each for the Organizer’s charity, Mercy corps’(which is very worthwhile in itself) And then the rest of the money will be going to Killin Mountain Rescue Team.
The challenge
The Artemis Great Kindrochit Quadrathlon is an exhilarating test of stamina, strength and fitness through some of the most spectacular and historic areas of the Scottish Highlands. The course is approximately 91Km long with 11,000 ft of ascent and we are hoping to complete it in 12 hours approx.
The course:
• Swim - 1.5k (0.8 miles) to North side of Loch Tay
• Run/Walk - seven Munro's encompassing the Lawers and Ptarmigan Ridges to Morenish (approx 24k or 15 miles)
• Kayak - 11k (7 miles) back to Ardtalnaig
• Cycle - around Loch Tay 54k (34 miles)
• Slice a melon - in two with a sword to stop the clock
