As many of you will know, I am running the marathon in memory of my mum, who sadly passed away having battled cancer for several years. As well as raising money for Macmillan, I would also like to raise funds to help the hospice which provided amazing care to mum and the whole family. As you may know hospices do not receive significant funds from the government and rely significantly on charitable donations. They are currently raising money to purchase new beds for the Little Hulton hospice where mum stayed. These specially manufactured beds are expensive (over £3,500) and I am hoping to raise enough to cover the cost of the mattress (which is about £1000). Certainly my mum wouldn't believe it but I have been getting out of bed at 6.30am to train in the freezing cold, I have swapped all alcohol for Lucozade and I am even wearing lycra (strictly for training purposes). I appreciate that you probably receive many requests for charitable donations and I hope on this occasion that you are able to sponsor me. Many thanks for your support.
