As a founder member of the 'never a dull moment' club, I felt I needed a challenge in 2009, and what better than to run a marathon! The old legs have still got 26 miles in them (I hope), so I'm up every morning at the crack of dawn, putting in the miles to make sure I'm up to the task! The best thing about the Edinburgh marathon is that the first six miles are downhill, and there are no cobblestones (unlike London!)

It would be a shame to not put this effort to good use, so I hope you will support me by making a donation to the British Lung Foundation. They are there to fund world class medical research into lung conditions and all aspects of lung health. Not everyone is as lucky as I am to have enough puff to run a marathon, so there is still lots for them to do.

I'm not sure if I'll be setting any records, but I know I can't take this challenge lightly, because there is a time limit on the course, so I'll have to keep going to finish in time!
