Flora London Marathon 2009 · 26 April 2009 ·

BackCare is UK’s national charity for back and neck pain since 1968. Back pain doesn’t kill, it tortures – destroying lives and livelihoods. It accounts for half of all chronic pain and is the leading cause of sickness absence from work. Help us stop back pain from destroying someone’s life today!

Story

Many thanks for visiting my fundraising page.

Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: 'Backcare' the National Back Pain Association gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.

Please sponsor me now !!

About my chosen charity:

BackCare is a national charity whose aim is to promote healthy backs. At some point during our lifetimes, two in five of us will suffer from back problems. 1.1 million people are disabled by backpain, making it the nation's leading cause of disability. BackCare seeks to challenge and change these statistics. BackCare helps people manage and prevent back pain by providing advice, promoting self help, encouraging debate and funding scientific research into better back care.

My reason for running:

That's right, Dave 'Don't call me Fatty' Pearce has decided to do some good !

About 5 years ago, I had a major operation to replace a slipped disc in my neck. This has allowed me to continue an active sporting life, though i have not seen any improvement to my footballing ability or golf handicap !

Since then I have always wanted to raise money for a charity that supports people with back problems in some way. So i had the bright idea of running the marathon to do this.

I do have a minimum target to raise but i want to beat this, so please, please, please party people, don't let me down and sponsor me for one of the smaller charities that need all the help they can get for such a worthy cause.

many thanks

Dave
