Thanks for visiting my fundraising page.

Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Parkinson's Disease Society gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.

So please sponsor me now!

I last walked to the summit of Ben Nevis and back again in 1996 and in 1999 was diagnosed with Parkinsons. With health care professionals, and the medication I am taking, life is pretty much as normal and to prove to myself that I can still complete this walk ten years on, I shall be repeating it on the 18th July 2009 with some friends.
It then occurred to me that this challenge to myself could also benefit the PDS if I were to try and obtain sponsorship for our efforts. To that end any sponsorship we receive will be given to the PDS so that their valuable work can continue in this, their fortieth year.
Photograph 2 shows the four who will be walking with me on the 18th. Top left is David Bedford and top right is Derek Bickers. I worked with them both at printers William Clowes in Beccles and Derek was himself diagnosed with Parkinsons last year. John Blyth bottom left is one of my long time friends from way back in the early sixties when we joined the 1st Bradwell Scouts together. We both achieved our Queens Scout Awards at this time and he was also best man at my wedding. Bottom right is Nick, youngest son of John who works in Aberdeen and will be joining us on the 18th.

Photograph 3 At approximately 13.00hs on Saturday 18th July 2009, David Sweetman, Derek Bickers, David Bedford, John and Nick Blyth reached the summit of Ben Nevis (4408ft Britain’s highest point) having left Achintee Farm near Fort William four hours earlier.

Photograph 4 was taken by the waitress at the celebratory meal we had in the evening at a restaurant in Fort William.

We would also like to recommend the Bed and Breakfast we had at the Torlinnhe Guest House where we stayed for the two nights. Sue and Andy provided superb accommodation and an amazing breakfast which was probably one of the contributory factors in our success. Thanks Sue and Andy at www.torlinnhe.com

All of the donations collected offline on our sponsorship forms have now been collected and cheques to the value of £1713.50 have been forwarded to the PDS. Sincere thanks to all those who contributed to our team effort.
