Story
On May 10th we are launching our own Macular Degneration Awareness Day, to help raise awareness of Age Related Macular Degeneration (ARMD) across the areas in which we operate; South Leicestershire, Northamptonshire and Buckinghamshire.
We will be producing a number of informative case studies from some of our patients who agreed to take part in the campaign, along with information about the disease, how it starts, progresses and what you can do to protect yourself. Look out for these in your local papers, or pop into branch for a copy. We will also be holding open days throughout the month of May at all of our five branches, where we will be holding a raffle and all proceeds will go to the charity.
ARMD is the single biggest cause of sight loss in the developed world. It is more common in people over the age of 60, but it can also affect younger people. If caught early enough, there are preventative measures to be taken against the disease, aswell as dietry supplements to help halt or slow down the progression of the disease there is currently no cure. Regular eye tests are therefore so important to ensure early diagnosis.
We are supporting the Macular Society in it's research appeal to fund clinical research into the disease, in the hope that one day we will overcome this disease.
Any donations you are able to make will be greatly received.
Many Thanks
The Davis Team
