You can read about this charity below. Please dig deep to sponsor us, or even better join us in our attempt to raise some money for this very worthy cause.
If you need details please email me, and don't worry if you are usually an exercise dodger :) . There are several routes available to ride on the day ranging from 2 - 23 miles and if you don't have a bike you can hire one from the cycle shop at Rutland for a preferential rate for this event. Children are also really welcome and can take part too.
Anna’s Hope is a children’s charity, inspired by a very brave little girl called Anna Olivia Hughes. Anna sadly lost her gruelling battle against a cancerous brain tumour in May 2006, aged 3 year 8 months. Described as the ‘Forgotten Cancer’ , Brain tumours are the Leading Cancer killer of Children and Young People. • The immediate impact of a brain tumour is devastating, causing a range of symptoms including severe headaches , loss of balance , blackouts , and impact on personality. • For those that survive, the side effects of the treatment can be profound with significant impact on their mental and physical abilities. •Most children are never the same again and are severely compromised for the rest of their lives. Anna’s Hope aims to help children and young people in this region who are diagnosed with a brain tumour by coordinating and providing rehabilitation and general support . It works closely with Addenbrookes Hospital, and is already making a difference by funding an Anna’s Hope Nurse. It also aims to provide assessment and specialist rehabilitation . In the longer term it will fund research projects into a cure
